Marriage Counselling and Relationships

Relationships are complex! With statistics indicating that nearly 50% of marriages now end in divorce, there are a lot of marriages today either struggling or stagnant.  Is yours one of them? Have you been married for a while, and noticed some tendencies that you would like to see changed? Maybe you’ve been married before and are determined to make this one work.

Married couples sometimes repeat the same mistakes, negative cycle that they can’t seem to shake it off. If your relationship falls into any of these categories, we would like to introduce you to a counselling method that is proven over 93% effective in enhancing your marriage relationship and life experience.

In order to achieve the joy and fulfilment of a great relationship, you must be prepared to do some work. You have to be willing to accept responsibility for what you feel, think and do. You must come to the point where you can admit that some of the problems come from you and not just your spouse. If you are willing to work on yourself, this counselling method can bring positive changes to your relationship.

To be able to walk in freedom and in truth, we accept Christ's claims of supremacy, the inerrancy of the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, and God’s ultimate ownership of everything and everybody.

Mental Health

Why should every Christian seek to understand the relationship between spiritual warfare and mental health?

'Spiritual warfare' is a phrase that is often used in Christian circles, but many people do not fully know how it works, why it varies, and its nexus with mental health.

Mental illnesses are often misunderstood and misinterpreted as demonization in the Christian deliverance ministry. Other times, many ignore the complexity of man, or they over-spiritualize, or they fail to discern accurately. These inaccuracies compound the problem, and prevent people from producing lasting, positive results.

Depression, neuroticism, panic attacks and other mental health issues are sweeping through society, including many people 'in the church'. The spiritual aspect of mental health is important, but it has been neglected, even in the church.

Secular resources have been used to fill the gap, and not without some beneficial effect. However, therapists and counsellors often fail to include spiritual truth in their therapy. This can be due to fear of potential conflicting beliefs and values, or fear of controversy, or from ignorance. But research and experience suggests that inclusion of loving spiritual truth is beneficial in the process of healing. Therapeutic strategies such as spiritual journaling, communal connections, charitable contribution and forgiveness protocols - all these have benefited many people when applied with skill and discernment by a competent counsellor.

In dealing with the spiritual aspects of mental health, unfortunately many Christians have naively relied on worldly protocols, and not on the Lord Jesus Himself. He says, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except  through me” - John 14: 6. To be able to walk in freedom and in truth, we accept Christ's claims of supremacy, the inerrancy of the Word of God, and God’s ultimate ownership of everything and everybody.

We target the roots of the problem, not only the symptoms of the problem of mental illness.
With years of experience we managed to guide our clients to healing and wholeness on :

  • Depression

  • Burnout

  • Anorexia and self harm

  • Addiction to porn, drugs, gambling and alcohol

  • Identity Issues

Temperament Therapy

The Arno Profile System (APS)

The APS is a personal identification/inventory – a clinical diagnostic tool used to gain understanding of a counselee’s or clients inborn temperament and associated characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. This is presented in an eight page computerised report. There are five main temperaments and more than 40,000 unique temperament blends. This is why an individual’s temperament cannot be accurately identified without appropriate assessment.

Before the counselling session, clients are given an APS Response Form, which contains 18 questions. The Responses are used to generate an APS Report. The Report can also be generated for children and teens. This information, coupled with the client’s discussed history and current issues, helps prepare for the next step in the ministry process.

The APS Report will provide a unique understanding of yourself in three areas:

  • Inclusion (Mind): Your social orientation and intellectual energy;

  • Control (Will): Your willingness to make decisions and to accept responsibility for yourself and others; and

  • Affection (Emotions): Your need to express and receive love and approval, as well as your need for deep, personal relationships.

After understanding your Mind, Will and Emotions, you will stop asking; Who am I? Why do I do the things I do? Why do I keep making the same mistakes? And will start asking; How can I use my temperament for the glory of God? How can I fulfil my purpose, achieve my goals and pursue my potential? The APS Report details your unique strengths and weaknesses and gives the Pastoral Counsellor suggestions for how to help you meet your basic needs as well as find the balance in your life. As a Faith based Pastoral Counsellor I have used this tool with all my clients. Many have witnessed how this has helped them through crisis, and brought healing and deliverance in the process of understanding themselves better.

For only €50 you can have your own APS Report. The APS will provide valuable information about your personal Temperament, and it will be a great asset in understanding your temperament need. Please email us for more info, or to book a session.
